La Colombe Opening Decaffeination Plant in Philly

I am always happy to see business in Philadelphia continuing to invest, expand, and explore new ventures in this great city!  La Colombe opened a new Torrefaction (http://lacolombe.com) in the base of the Ritz Carlton residences in June of 2011, just across from Dilworth Plaza, which is in the midst of massive revitalization (http://goo.gl/F4OLA). La Colombe’s founder wants to make Philadelphia the biggest coffee port in the U.S.

This Decaffenination Plant will be the 1st privately owned decaffeination plant in the U.S., Carmichael just secured 15,000 square feet of warehouse space in the  Port Richmond neighborhood in Philadelphia.  The new Port Richmond port will be just minute’s from La Colombe’s roasting plant on Thompson Street. This is great news for the city, the new plant will bring in jobs and will force the New York Stock Exchange  to recognize Philadelphia as a port for coffee. The more exposure Philadelphia gets the better and I applaude Carmichael and La Colombe and others like them for continuing to be an integral part of Philadelphia’s growth.
