May Brings Spruce Street Harbor Park Back to Philly!

Spruce Street Harbor Park

Chill out in a hammock at Spruce Street Harbor Park

If the upcoming summer season has you in the mood for waterfront dining, drinking and lounging, then put on your party hats and head to Spruce Street Harbor Park at Penn’s Landing on the Delaware River Waterfront! This attraction officially opens for the 2017 season on Friday, May 12, with a brand-new festival to kick off the season. As your Philly real estate agent, allow me to fill you in with the details, so you’ll be all ready to claim your hammock spot when opening day arrives!

The season runs from May 12 through Oct. 1, with free admission. You just pay for your food and drinks as you go. Join the party on opening weekend, at the first-ever UNIVESTival, a three-day festival May 12 through May 14. Aside from the usual fun and attractions, you can look forward to a tightrope and aerial show from Philly Circus, craft-making stations with local art companies, a magic show, live music from local musicians and more.

Then all season long, you can stop by Spruce Street Harbor Park, deemed a pop-up summertime village on Penn’s Landing in Philadelphia. Dine on a floating barge restaurant, complete with tacos, burgers, pizza, ice cream drinks and more casual, summery dining options. While dining or walking the boardwalk, take time out to admire the floating gardens, which aren’t only aesthetically beautiful, but also help keep the water clean in the marina!

Head to the beer garden and sip on beer, wine or cocktails. The draft beer selection has expanded this year, and new rotating draft cocktails are debuting this year. If you’re up for some activity, play free games along the waterfront boardwalk! Options range from ping pong, shuffleboard and bocce, to bean bag toss, life-sized chess and Connect Four, giant Jenga and more. You couldn’t ask for a better place to party this summer in Philly!

If you’re more in the mood for lounging and unwinding after a hard day’s work, grab one of the 50 colorful hammocks that hang in Spruce Street Harbor Park, and admire the colorful LED lights that hang from the trees. On a hot day, feel free to cool off with a quick splash in one of the fountains scattered throughout the park. There’s never a dull moment at this epic pop-up village. Free live entertainment will take place throughout the season as well.

This is seriously the coolest ambiance you’ll find, a great place to meet up with friends or coworkers, and an easy way to spend time outdoors and take advantage of beautiful spring/summer nights in Philadelphia. Spruce Street Harbor Park is just one of the dozens of attractions that Philly has to offer in the warm months ahead!
