Philly Farmers Market Season is Back!

We can think of plenty of reasons to love summer in Philly – warm weather, outdoor festivals, Spruce Street Harbor Park, the Philadelphia real estate market is booming… what is there not to love? Another huge perk of summer is the reemergence of local Philly farmer’s markets! As your Philly real estate team, we’re here to fill you in on where to go for the best farmer’s market options.

Did you know that last year, Philadelphia had 87 markets in the region? That’s a ton! We’ve narrowed our list down to include some of our favorites:

  • Rittenhouse Farmers Market – This market in Rittenhouse Square runs every Saturday throughout the season! Head to 18th and Walnut from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and shop among 30 local farm and food artisans. This early in the season, you’ve got something new to look forward to each week, as more produce comes into season! Enjoy greenhouse tomatoes, lemonade, homemade bread, potted flowers and so much more right now.
  • Schuylkill River Park Farmers Market – This market runs every Wednesday evening from 3 to 7 p.m.! It is located in the Fitler Square neighborhood, right off the Schuylkill River Trail in Center City. Joggers can take a detour for a refreshing snack, or you can stop by to stock up on fresh, local produce for the week!
  • Reading Terminal Market – This market is year-round, so it’s more like a marketplace. It’s worth mentioning though, as it’s the oldest continually operating farmer’s markets in the country! Located at 12th and Arch, it’s home to every type of cuisine you can imagine. This includes the “Best Sandwich in America,” DiNic’s Roast Pork and Beef. Give yourself time to browse! Hours are Monday through Saturday, 8-6, and Sunday, 9-5. They even have free Wi-Fi!
  • Headhouse Farmers Market – This market takes place every Sunday at 2nd and Lombard in Society Hill. It’s one of the Food Trust’s largest markets! With more than 40 vendors, you’ll find an abundance of produce, artisan goods, soups, ice cream, coffee, wine and more. Food trucks rotate in and out as well. It’s crowded, so give yourself plenty of time!
  • Clark Park’s Farmers Market – Located at 43rd and Baltimore Avenue in West Philly, this is a year-round market on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. A seasonal Thursday market also takes place here, which is smaller and less crowded. Head here for produce, baked and canned goods, meats, Amish pastries, fresh-cut flowers, dried herbs and more.

This is obviously just a small sampling of the farmer’s markets available in the Philly region. Do you have a favorite to visit? Leave a comment and give it a shout out! With so many options, you could visit a different market each day of the week.
